THE HOME OF BEEFEATER GIN

Slap bang in the urban heart of London, you’ll find the Beefeater Distillery. For decades, our Kennington home has been distilling the World’s Most Awarded Gin*. We’re one of the few major distilleries who continue to make our gin in the city, because we believe that staying rooted to The Spirit of London connects us to the very traditions and innovations that make this gin, and city, exceptional.

THE HISTORY

We’re a sucker for tradition: look around and you’ll see ancient scales, Victorian pot stills, and a near-200 year old recipe for Beefeater London Dry Gin. Every drop is still handcrafted, and every drink is imbued with the Spirit of London.

The Edwardian building stands tall amongst the clashing historic and futuristic buildings that line the streets of Vauxhall. London has been the driving force behind the storied development of gin, and Beefeater has been there every step of the way. We’ve taken up residence here since the 1950s, after we outgrew our Cale Street home in Chelsea. Take a look at our history here.

HOW WE MAKE OUR GIN

Using James Burrough’s recipe as our guide, Beefeater Gin is made thanks to an expert blend of tradition and innovation.

Beefeater London Dry Gin is often considered the “classic” style gin, thanks to our juniper-forward profile and versatility. We also use a blend of eight other botanicals, most notably Sicilian lemon peel and Seville orange peel for our citrus notes.

We take our strong, clean alcohol, pop it into the (vintage!) pot stills and steep our nine botanicals for 24 hours before heating. This day-long process, we think, gives the best character.
