This year’s annual World’s 50 Best Bars have been announced, and it has been another successful year for the great city of London, with eight of the top fifty (including the #1 spot) coming from England’s capital.
So why is it that London repeatedly excels in these awards every year?
We’re not sure, but we have an inkling…
London has such a rich and diverse culture, driven by a vast melting pot of different tastes and preferences. This cultural diversity is in turn reflected in London’s bar scene, ranging from traditional spots specialising in historically classic cocktails, right the way through to edgier watering holes, pushing the boundaries with innovative, contemporary drinks – and everything in between.
Whether it’s the American Bar at the Savoy, which served its first cocktail in 1893 (& still in the top 20) or Bar Swift, who served their first cocktail only 3 years ago – London has always been an inspiring home to a community of bartenders and bar owners who continue to portray their own ‘Spirit of London’ with pride and passion.
Congratulations to London’s 8 winners:
1. The Connaught (#1)
2. Tayēr + Elementary (#5)
3. Kwānt (#6)
4. The American Bar at the Savoy (#20)
5. Lyaness (#29)
6. Swift (#33)
7. Three Sheets (#34)
8. Artesian (#41)
